Privacy, in plain language

Your career story is personal. We treat it that way.

CareerPainter saves the information needed to run your private workspace, keeps optional AI assistance clearly separated, and gives you practical ways to keep or remove your data.

Information we handle

CareerPainter handles a few distinct kinds of information so the product can work:

Account information

Your name, email address, account status, and basic profile details used to sign you in and identify your workspace.

Career workspace content

Resume details, imported text, saved versions, cover letters, template choices, application records, contacts, notes, dates, and next actions that you choose to add.

Product operations

A small set of product events used to understand whether important workflows function, plus technical request information needed to keep the service reliable and secure.

Information you submit

Your email and preferences when you join an update list, and written feedback only when you explicitly send it.

02

How information is used

We use this information to provide your account and workspace, save and sync your work, generate documents you ask for, maintain application history, respond to feedback, operate the beta, prevent misuse, and improve product reliability.

CareerPainter is not designed to sell your resume content or use it for advertising profiles.

03

Chrome Application Assistant

The optional CareerPainter extension accesses CareerPainter.com when you pair it and an employer site only after you start the assistant or grant that site access. It uses the active page’s visible application fields to match information from your structured profile, highlight uncertain answers, and place answers you approve.

The extension does not request your browsing history, cookies, web requests, debugger access, or permanent access to every page. It does not sell application data, click the final submission button, or complete LinkedIn and Indeed first-party application flows. Short-lived extension credentials are stored by Chrome and can be removed by disconnecting the extension.

04

Optional AI features

Hosted AI assistance is optional. When you request an AI-powered import, tailoring, drafting, or application-answer action, the content needed for that action is sent to the configured AI provider for processing. CareerPainter also records the model used and token totals so it can show usage and manage provider costs.

The manual resume, cover-letter, export, tracking, and form-review workflow remains available without asking AI to process your career content. Review AI-generated suggestions before using them.

05

Storage, resilience, and retention

Your signed-in workspace syncs to CareerPainter’s service. A browser cache keeps a working copy of relevant workspace data for resilience and can remain on a device until it is cleared or replaced.

Account and workspace information is kept while your account is active and as needed to operate, secure, and meet applicable obligations for the service. Operational records and backups may take additional time to age out after a deletion request.
